I wanted to use more natural, chemical-free cleaning products around the house, but also had no idea where to find borax in a grocery store (I still don't!). Then, I found this recipe, which works in a pinch and couldn't be easier to make. The best part is, you can make a lot because it stores indefinitely.
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup baking soda
1/2 gallon water
Mix everything together in a spray bottle, shake, and use. I found a few other good recipes in the book Better Basics for the Home: Simple Solutions for Less-Toxic Living by Annie Berthold-Bond and recommend it!

We found Borax near the laundry aisle in Walmart. We use regularly as a laundry booster.
